Oral Health

Oral health is very important. Oral health refers to the health of your mouth including your lips, teeth, gums and oral areas.

Oral health is a key indicator of overall health, well-being and quality of life. It encompasses a range of diseases and conditions that include dental caries, periodontal disease, tooth loss, oral cancer, oral manifestations of HIV infection, trauma and birth defects such as cleft lip and palate.

People who smoke a lot and/or drink a lot, are susceptible to oral disease more often than those who do not. Excessive sugar consumption can also lead to tooth decay and cause disease.

You can maintain good oral health and hygiene by brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between your teeth once a day with floss. Aim to replace your toothbrush every three or four months. Consistently eat a balanced diet and limiting eating snacks between meals. Get regular dental check-ups to keep your mouth healthy. Oral health supplements are aimed at improving your oral health for your lips, teeth, gums and oral areas. Look for supplements with natural ingredients that do not contain too much sugar or too many additives.
